10 Dec 07 _ Music Is Good.

Hopefully this will be the glorious start of a new, exciting blog category on the Red Frog Blog (…?) but it feels about time to write a completely non-technical/client related post for our mega-huge-fanbase.Last week we made the bold decision to pack up our machines and move share a common workspace (that’s a whole ‘nother post). Some of my co-workers would say that we did this for productivity, or more human interaction, but here’s the deal: we did it to stay warm. Our humming xserve + 5 (soon to be six, Bryan?) computers + the rest of us = warmer space. So there it is.But aside from sharing our body heat we’ve also had the pleasure of sharing music! Two weeks ago a client could have received the Official Office Tour and heard different songs coming from each room. Fun, right? Well, now that we’re all in the same space we plugged in our Mac Mini and share the tunes (each from our own machine with the wonderful Vine Server + Chicken of the VNC combo). So luckily we’re all usually in sync on what not to listen to. But here is a list of what we’ve had in rotation: Radiohead - In Rainbows

Radiohead - In Rainbows

Not surprisingly, this album hasn’t really left our playlist(s) since Molly acquired it.  And last week we were lucky enough to receive the second half! We’ve been humming “All I Need”, jamming on “Reckoner” and “Videotape” and trying to dance to “15 Step” (kind of) and there haven’t been any complaints around the office. If anything, we’re playing more of this masterpiece after receiving Disc 2 which contains some of Radiohead’s best tracks ever (see “Down Is The New Up” and “4 Minute Warning”).  Their previous album Hail To The Thief definitely left me wanting more (and also a little tiresome after several listens, unlike this album) but the wait was worth every minute.

Flight of the ConchordsFlight Of The Conchords

This one also falls under the category of “what we’re watching on YouTube” as well.

Somehow, somehow,  we managed to get copies of every song from the HBO series, as they are heard in the show. We resisted the urge to make “leggie blonde” our on hold music, so instead we spent a few minutes listening to it on repeat to learn every word and chord.

Still don’t believe the hype: believe this

And since this is getting long, I’ll wrap it up with:

Cash $Johnny Cash

This one is tricky. I’d say something cool and give a good review of all these great tunes, but frankly, we listened to this more than anything else because Cash $ comprises (or, comprised, since this “problem” has been remedied) of 70% of the music on our Mac Mini.

Not that I’m complaining. But we’ve moved on, for now.
