We’ve been enjoying Keynote for the past year and find it refreshing after staring at code or adobe tool palettes for hours on end.
It’s primary use has been for dynamic visual presentations with clients but we’ve also been fond of using it’s web export function for quick online presentations and snappy walkthroughs.
But, leave it to Khoi at Subtraction to harness Keynote’s power for… print!
iWork has never been handier, and I’m sure we’ll experiment with this thought in the near future.

So if you have called our shop this week you’ve noticed our new phone options. We’re excited to be able to direct callers to their appropriate destination. You can still reach us in the same direct manner (our extensions haven’t changed, so keep hitting 26 if you want me!).
But now you receive a destination based on the following:
Press 1 - new projects!
Press 2 - hosting & email help
Press 3 - website & webtree support
Press 4 - billing
We think this will improve the each and every call and get you to the person best-suited to talk to. We’ve also changed our hold music to match the new theme….which means we’ve let go of our old hold music: the orchestral Mario Bros. medley! Thanks to all the callers who recognized the theme music and pointed it out to us. You are wonderful.
Give it a try: 607.277.2757

As someone who is aware of Search Engine Optimization will know, there are a lot of ideas (some good, some bad) floating around about how to improve your page listing in Google. If you are able to implement most of these methods consistently, your websites and any website you design will have much better search results standings.
Here was something written in his article that impressed me:
Hint: Properly describing your images can help your ranking in the image search results. For example, Google image search brings me hundreds of referrals everyday for the search terms “abstract” and “dj“.
There is lots more to learn over in the post Web Designer Wall: SEO Guide for Designers, so check it out!

My love affair with JQuery continues with my new article about using JQuery for easy Ajax pagination at the CakePHP Bakery. Go ahead and check it out, it’s pretty slick.

6 years ago I discovered Exploding Dog (this was my favorite) and had my mind blown by Sam’s simple use of a drawing tablet. I tried my own experiments with a mouse but with lame results. 3 years ago I inherited an ancient Wacom tablet which wasn’t even supported on my computer, but at least I was using a digital pen rather than my standard mouse.
